About Project Pashu Raksha
: Project Pashu Raksha means Project Save Animals in Telugu, an Indian dialect. Our mission is:
To make Affordable, Quality & Sustainable Animal HealthCare Accessible.
In 2004, the founders of United Animal Resource Foundation and Cause an Effect Foundation met at a global conference of Young Entrepreneurs in LA.
Mike Lathigee is the Founder of United Animal Way, a charity that strives to reduce pain and suffering of animals in labs, zoos and circuses through relocation (e.g. sanctuaries and re-introduction into the wild). United Animal Resource Foundation does this by providing donated funds to support various animal relocation projects throughout the world.
The Co-founders of Cause an Effect Foundation are Sriram Bharatam and Bharathi B. Cause an Effect Foundation is an award winning Not-for-Profit organization with international repute focusing on Health & Nutrition, Childcare & Education, Sustainable Livelihood, Agriculture, Disability and Animal Care. The Foundation operates by harnessing the potential of ICT (Information & Communication Technology) for sustainable & equitable development, to enable the poor and the marginalized communities to transform their lives.
Mike, Sriram and Bharathi’s mutual passion for supporting Animal Welfare and fighting Animal abuse led to the development of Project Pashu Raksha (PPR). By 2006, PPR was officially implemented within 10 villages throughout the state of Andhra Pradesh in India.
We would like to take Project Pashu Raksha on a global scale. To do that, we must first start in our own backyard and begin a journey of a 1000 miles with a single step. Cause an Effect Foundation already has a strong presence in India. With India having a rural population of about 70%, that’s millions of the rural masses who do not have the education nor know-how of Animal Healthcare, and thus, abuse and neglect of domestic animals is widespread.
Systematic concern for the well-being of animals probably first arose as a system of thought in the Indus Valley Civilization as the religious belief that ancestors return in the animal form, and that animals must therefore be treated with the respect due to a human. This belief is exemplified in many religions.
Not all animals are fortunate to enjoy this status. Most of the animals in captivity live in pitiable and depressing conditions and are under great emotional stress due to confinement, painful techniques of slaughter and worst of all, the disowning of these animals due to diseases.
These poor, abused Animals do not have a voice. We do. Will you lend us your voice for their support? |
